Overview
Mount Meru is Africa's fifth-highest peak and one of Tanzania's most rewarding climbs — a steep, dramatic crater that frames a perfect view of Kilimanjaro on the horizon. At 4,566 metres it is a serious mountain in its own right, and an ideal acclimatisation climb before attempting Kilimanjaro.
The three-day route begins at Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park, accompanied by an armed ranger through buffalo and giraffe country. The summit push departs around midnight so you reach the crater rim at sunrise, with Kilimanjaro rising above the plains below.
The itinerary
A rhythm, not a schedule — every day flexes around what the bush is doing and what you feel like. This outline follows the route; your final day-by-day is confirmed when we tailor the trip.
